A friendly word on what EDHEC does to facilitate your move to France.
You're thinking of coming to France to study in one of the leading European business schools but at the same time you are concerned about the effort needed to organise your trip. Things like securing suitable accommodation, getting a temporary residents permit, applying for social security might seem like too much work, especially in an unknown country where you are not familiar with the language...That's why our friendly International Office is constantly at your service.
When you apply to a school you want reassurance that the team there understands your difficulties, knows the procedures in your country and is able to offer assistance - whether it be by intervening in your VISA process (You need one in a hurry? You need a special document?) or by making the necessary telephone calls in the renting of an appartment .
EDHEC does this for you!
You're interested in one of EDHEC's international programmes so you send your application form off for evaluation and you are accepted. You then receive a password and log-in to our information platform and access to The Welcome Guide to Life in France. This manual will provide you with all the information necessary for life in France. It tells you how to go about the French administrative processes such as the papers you have to provideas to get your temporary residents card and even details the bus you have to get to go to the Prefecture to get this card! It tells you how to go about being covered by the French social security system - from how to qualify for a housing grant to how to get medical cover. It covers all the processes involved in moving to France and more local information such as street maps and bus routes.
Once you have officially accepted your place in the programme, you will then get access to our Restricted Access folder in which you will find the reservation form for your chosen accommodation.
After this you will need to arrange your VISA. EDHEC's International Office is familiar with the VISA formalities of most countries and will provide you with the necessary papers. The School can even hurry this procedure along if necessary. You may contact the International Office to express your concerns about your visa application, provided you have already checked the necessary pages on the Welcome Guide and contacted your local embassay first.
One of the requirements for most VISA applications is proof of accommodation in France. Again the international Office is on hand to provide you with a list of apartments, halls of residence and other types of housing according to your criteria. You can even "visit" them virtually using our new Housing website. The team will do everything they can to make arrangements with the owner and secure your reservation. It will also pick you up from the airport on your day of arrival (when possible) and take you directly to your new home. What could be easier?!
EDHEC is even providing a free two-week intensive French course to provide you with the basics (or enable you to improve) to make your first few weeks in France as easy as possible.
We know it means a lot to you to have the reassurance that there is an efficient and friendly team on hand throughout your application and during your stay in France. That's why we are here to help!
