This module deals with two distinct topics:
1) the macro-context of business and its interaction with strategic intent
2) the translation of that intent into leadership in action
The first part presents an advanced analytical treatment of the classic political, macroeconomic, sociological and technological variables both as givens in strategy and as factors which can be shaped to a greater or lesser extent by business leaders.
The second half of this module aims at transferring knowledge acquired about leadership and strategy into action.
Part 1: Contextual Dynamics
Objectives
An advanced analytical treatment of the classic political, macroeconomic, sociological, and technological variables both as givens in strategy and as factors which can be shaped to a greater or lesser extent by business leaders.
Course Content
· macro environment as a relational context and a source of key strategic resources
· the dynamics of business landscape evolution: adapting and/or shaping
· non-market actors and values as forces in the contextual dynamic
· lobbying as risk-adverse shaping
· networking and cluster dynamics
· complexity modelling and contextual dynamics
Part 2: Leadership in Action: the MSc Summit
Objectives
To transfer the knowledge acquired in leadership and strategy into action.
Through a real life experience, identifying and solving issues and difficulties faced when leading a strategic project.
