MSc Strategic Management - Module 6: Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring Activities

 

The objective is to acquaint students with mergers, acquisitions and restructuring as modes of strategic development that are frequently used by companies. 

 The main challenges of such moves are discussed, as are the ways to manage them successfully.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

The general objective is to acquaint students with modes of strategic development that are frequently used by companies, in particular mergers, acquisitions and restructuring activities.

 

  • To understand the nature of challenges associated with external growth and cooperation.

 

  • About acquisitions -  to be able to design and apply methods of target selection in relation with the acquirer's strategy

 

  • To be aware of recent research findings about value creation through integration

 

  • To understand the challenges of spin-offs and restructuring strategies.

 

 

A specific focus will be put on the topic of restructuring activities through such approaches as spin-offs and carve outs, approaches often used in the context of merging companies.
